Ms. Armida Salsiah Alisjahbana was appointed Executive Secretary of the United Nations Economic and Social

Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) on 13 September 2018.

Prior to joining ESCAP, Ms. Alisjahbana was Professor of Economics at Universitas Padjadjaran in Bandung, Indonesia, a position she assumed in 2005. She joined Universitas Padjadjaran as a lecturer in 1988. Since 2016, she has served as Director for the Center for Sustainable Development Goals Studies at Universitas Padjadjaran and Vice Chair of the Indonesian Academy of Sciences.

She also serves on the Governing Board of the Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia (ERIA), and member of the Indonesian Academy of Sciences (Akademi Ilmu Pengetahuan Indonesia - AIPI), the Forum of Statistics Community (Forum Masyarakat Statistik or Advisory Council of the Indonesian Statistics), the International Advisory Board of the Bulletin of Indonesian Economic Studies and Council Member of the Regional Science Association International (RSAI).

From 2009 to 2014, she was Minister of National Development Planning and the Head of the National Development Planning Agency (BAPPENAS), Indonesia. She served as Co-chair of the Global Partnership for Effective Development Cooperation from 2012 to 2014. From 2009 to 2014, she was Alternate Governor of the World Bank and Alternate Governor of the Asian Development Bank representing the government of Indonesia. In 2016, she was a member of the High Level Independent Team of Advisors to support the ECOSOC Dialogue on the longer term positioning of the United Nations Development System in the context of the 2030 Agenda on Sustainable Development.

Ms. Alisjahbana has been involved in various research projects and consultancies to the United Nations University/Institute for Advanced Study in Tokyo, the World Bank, the Asian Development Bank (ADB), the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT), Australia, the Australian Agency for International Development (AusAID), the European Commission, and the International Labor Organization (ILO).

Ms. Alisjahbana earned her Bachelor degree in Economics and Development Studies from Universitas Indonesia, Indonesia, a Masters degree in Economics from Northwestern University, USA and a Ph.D in Economics from University of Washington, USA. She was awarded the Mahaputra Adipradana Order (Bintang Mahaputra Adipradana) from the Republic of Indonesia, honorary brevet from the Indonesian Navy and honorary flight wing from the Indonesian Air Force.

He was a British and Thai politician. He was once a university lecturer from 2008 to 2011 and a leader at Chulachomklao Royal Military School and Thammasat University. He was also the leader of the Democratic Party, the second largest party in the House of Representatives from 2005 to 2019 until he resigned, and the leader of the opposition. Born to Thai parents in England, He attended Eton College and earned his bachelor's and master's degrees from Oxford University. He was elected to the Thai Parliament at the age of 27 and was promoted to leader of the Democratic Party in 2005, and on December 17, 2008 He was appointed Prime Minister of Thailand. Norodom Rattana Devi is a Cambodian princess and politician. She is the only daughter of Prince Norodom Ranariddh and Princess Norodom Marie. She belongs to FUNCINPEC and was elected to represent Kratie Province in the National Assembly of Cambodia in 2003.

Professor Tian Belawati has served lifetime professional contributions to open and distance learning (ODL). She has had extensive experiences in research, teaching, and administration of a large scale open university system, which serves over 400,000 students residing in Indonesia and overseas.Her work experiences include various positions within an ODL institution that serves diverse groups of students with differing needs and circumstances. She started her career in academic life in 1985 when she joined Universitas Terbuka (UT) as an editor. She then received scholarships to further her study and was awarded the Master of Education degree from Simon Fraser University and Doctor of Philosophy degrees from the University of British of Columbia, Canada. Upon her return to UT, Indonesia in 1996, she was appointed as Head of the Center for Indonesian Studies. As Head of the Center, she was able to significantly increase funding allocation for research, establish accredited academic journal of ODL in Indonesia, and promote research culture within UT. During her term, UT introduced research-based policy making that has paved the way for achievement and future direction of UT as a reputable quality ODL provider. Her leadership experience of the Centre has further taken her to greater responsibilities as Vice Rector for Academic Affairs at UT. As Vice Rector she introduced innovations and good practices in the use of new technology for the delivery of ODL. Her two-terms as Vice Rector, from 2001 up to 2009, have taken UT into a new ODL platform in a developing country context through utilization of new and appropriate technology. Among others, she has introduced innovations through UT Online, such as online tutorials, open educational resources (OERs), online examination, digital library, integrated information system for learning materials development, and other ICT-based initiatives in teaching, learning and academic administration.Professor Belawati is currently serving her second term of office as the Rector of UT. In the first two years of her first office term as Rector, she has taken decisive actions to mobilize effort in partnerships with stakeholders to improve the quality of ODL, develop greater public confidence in ODL, and establish collaborative effort with international as well as regional ODL institutions and associations. She is extensively involved in various joint initiatives with other ODL players and organizations in her capacity as both ODL researcher and top administrator. Her professional achievements have led her appointments as Secretary General (2007-2009) and then President (2009-2010) of the Asian Association of Open Universities (AAOU). Her leadership was further acknowledged at the global level through her appointment as a member of the Election Committee (2007-2009), a member of the Executive Committee (2009-now), and currently as the President of the International Council for Open and Distance Education (ICDE), the leading global membership organization for open, distance, flexible and online education, including e-learning which holds a consultative partner status with UNESCO.

Professor Belawati holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Adult Education (University of British Columbia, Canada, and a Master of Education in Management of Distance Education (Simon Fraser University, Canada.). Her academic reputation in ODL has been recognized through various awards, namely GTP-Bappenas Awards for independent research; World Bank Awards, the Young Academic Program of Indonesian, the Directorate General for Higher Education (YAP-DGHE) for independent research;YAP-DGHE Awards for international publication; IDRC-PanAsia Organization Award for both independent and collaborative research; and Fullbright Award for senior independent research. The latest awards she received were for her life time contributions in the field of education, the AAOU Meritorious Service Award in 2012 and the Distinguished Individual Promoter of the ODL from the African Council for Distance Education (ACDE) in June 2014.

Dr Ethel Agnes Pascua-Valenzuela is presently the Director of the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization (SEAMEO) Secretariat, the first female Director since SEAMEO was organized in 1965. She served as the first female Deputy Director for Programme and Development of SEAMEO Secretariat from July 2015 to March 2019 and led the Educational Research and Innovation Office of SEAMEO INNOTECH, from 2006 to June 2015.

Prior to joining SEAMEO, she was and Director IV of the Office of Student Services and Director III at the International Affairs Services in the Commission on Higher Education Philippines (1995-2006) and was responsible for foreign and local scholarship programs, academic mobility and transnational education. She has also served as Vice Chairperson of the UNESCO National Commission Education Commissioner (2000-2010). She is a Professorial lecturer at the University of the Philippines and De la Salle University in Manila.

Dr Valenzuela's expertise is on internationalization of higher education and transnational education, teacher education, alternative learning and secondary education. She has published international and local articles, journals, technical reports and guidelines for some SEAMEO and other international organizations such as UNESCO, UNICEF, CHED and DepEd. Among her well-noted research work were: Philippine Higher Education Guide (CHED), K to 12 Toolkit; Quality Assurance, Mutual Recognition in Higher Education (UNESCO Paris); Toolkit for the Recognition of Higher Education Qualifications (UNESCO BKK); Toolkit for National Information Centers (UNESCO Bangkok), ESD Toolkit for Secondary Schools; Internationalization of Philippine Higher Education (UNESCO Natcom) and Reform and Development in Philippine Higher Education; The Southeast Asian Teaching Standards; Multigrade Quality Indicators in Southeast Asia; K to 12 Regional Comparison in Southeast Asia and published at the International Encyclopedia of Education under Elsevier London to name a few.

Dr Valenzuela holds Doctor of Education in Educational Management at De La Salle University, MA in Science Education at the Philippine Normal University and Bachelor's degree in Secondary Education major in English and General Science. She is a Career Executive Service Officer (CESO IV) in the Philippine Government and a member of various international professional and academic organizations including the Phi Lambda Theta Honor Society of Women Leaders in Education and the Phi Delta Kappa. She was awarded as Philippine Normal University's Blue Ribbon Award for Distinguished Alumni in 2013, and a World Bank Fellow in Multilingual Education.

Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. She was born in 1947 as the eldest daughter of the first president, Mujibur Rahman, who is the "father of Bangladesh independence." Started virus research in 1990. In 2005, he succeeded in artificially synthesizing Nipah virus for the first time in the world, working on a small-scale epidemic of Nipah virus infection in Asia such as Malaysia and Bangladesh. We are working on elucidating the mechanism of emerging infectious diseases that spread damage across species and developing vaccines that can completely protect against Nipah virus. Ven. Mae Chee Sansanee Sthirasuta is a Buddhist nun and the founder of Sathira-Dhammasathan, in Bangkok. The Center, under Ven. Kosho Niwano, the next chairman, was born in 1968 in Suginami-ku, Tokyo, as the eldest daughter of Nichiko Niwano. Growing up surrounded by her grandfather, the founder, and her father, the chairman, she graduated from the Faculty of Law at Gakushuin University, and she studied at Gakushuin University, a human resources training institution of the Society. She is currently leading many of the cult's major projects while she is studying the Lotus Sutra.

Taking advantage of her experience of studying abroad and staying in England and Italy and her experience of raising children, she has been involved in various activities related to international religious dialogue and cooperation, as well as concrete activities for women from the perspective of the Lotus Sutra regarding family life and child-rearing.
